Another Cowboys player is coming to TV: Jason Witten will join ESPN’s ‘Monday Night Football’

Move over, Tony Romo. Another Dallas Cowboys player is coming to TV.

Tight end Jason Witten has chosen to resign and will join ESPN's "Monday Night Football" communicates, as per various reports. ESPN's Todd Archer reports that Witten has educated proprietor Jerry Jones and Coach Jason Garrett of his choice. With Jon Gruden's flight to mentor the Raiders, the landing of Witten implies a reboot for the program, with ESPN supplanting Sean McDonough with long-term school commentator Joe Tessitore for the 2018 season.

Witten, who turns 36 on Sunday, had been pondering his choice over the previous week and he follows in the strides of one of his quarterbacks. Romo resigned a year ago and quickly joined CBS's best NFL group, getting generally praise for his first season at work. Leaving without winning a Super Bowl was a thought for Romo, who brought up that it presumably was for Witten, as well.

"It's extremely troublesome. I imagine that is the greatest test leaving is that you didn't achieve a definitive objective that you set out for," Romo told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram a week ago.
